Jan Tarasin

Jan Tarasin (1926 - 2009) was active/lived in Poland.  Jan Tarasin is known for Assemblage images as two-dimensional paintings, lithography.

Jan Tarasin studied from 1946-1951 in the Cracow's Academy of Art under Prof. Zbigniew Pronaszko.  In the mid fifties Jan created two lithograph series "Home" and "Nowa Huta inhabitants" in which he protested against soc-real official optimism and focused on the WW2 trauma.  After 1956 his work turned into abstact forms working on "przedmioty [objects]".

In subsequent years "przedmioty" - meant as systems of geometrical signs - became his trade-mark.  In 1962 Tarasin became a member of the Grupa Krakowska (the Cracow's Group) which proved to be one of the most influential avant-garde societies in post-war Poland.  Tarasin was awarded various Polish as well as international (eg.
